What a wonderfully busy and exciting week it has been in the Lower School, with so many opportunities for our children to learn, perform, compete and grow in confidence.

On Monday, children from Years 1 and 2 represented DBS in their very first football match at Kensington International School. A huge congratulations to all the children who took part. At such a young age, playing as part of a team is about so much more than the final score. The children learn to communicate, cooperate, encourage one another and keep going when things do not go their way. They also begin to understand the importance of playing fairly, listening to their coaches and representing their school with pride. We were incredibly proud of their enthusiasm, courage and teamwork. What a fantastic beginning to their sporting journey at DBS!

On Tuesday, the whole Lower School enjoyed a visit from Marcel Pusey from Cool 4 School. Each year group participated in an energetic and engaging music workshop, giving the children the opportunity to perform, collaborate and express themselves creatively. The day culminated in a wonderful performance for parents. It was fantastic to see the children sharing what they had learned with such enthusiasm and confidence. Thank you to all the parents who joined us and supported the children, it was a joyful way to end a memorable day.

On Wednesday, we welcomed prospective families to our whole-school Open Day. It is always such a privilege to lead tours and share everything that makes DBS such a special place. Our visitors were able to see learning in action, meet members of our school community and experience the warmth, ambition and energy that can be felt throughout the school. Most importantly, it was an opportunity to show off our incredible children. Their confidence, kindness, curiosity and enthusiasm are the very best reflection of who we are as a school, and we were extremely proud of them.

Our Early Years parent–teacher meetings continued this week. These conversations are such an important part of the partnership between home and school, giving us the opportunity to celebrate each child’s progress and discuss the next steps in their learning and development. Thank you to all the parents who attended and for your continued support of both your children and their teachers.

We also held our residential meeting for parents of children in Years 3–6. Thank you to everyone who attended and took the time to learn more about the exciting experiences ahead. Residential visits are an important part of our Lower School journey. They give children opportunities to develop independence, resilience, teamwork and confidence while making very special memories with their friends. We know that anticipation can bring a mixture of excitement and a few nerves, but our teams are working carefully to ensure that each residential is safe, purposeful and enjoyable.

Thank you, as always, to our children, families and staff for making this such a positive and memorable week in the Lower School.
