House Spirit takes Centre Stage in the Lower School
There was a wonderful sense of excitement in the Lower School today as we came together for our House Celebration Assembly. Over the past two weeks, Years 3–4 and Years 5–6 have taken part in tug of war House Competitions. Today, Sandringham won the Years 3–4 competition, while Balmoral took the Years 5–6 title. The staff then stepped up to compete for the belt, with Buckingham emerging victorious! The children loved cheering on their teachers. I am grateful to our staff for throwing themselves into events like this with such enthusiasm; those shared moments bring so much joy to school life. Our House system gives children a sense of belonging beyond their class and year group. It brings them together to work as a team, represent their House and celebrate one another’s efforts. Events like the tug of war show just how much pride and encouragement the children bring to their Houses. A special thank you to Mr Jones for leading the House system across the Lower School and creating opportunities that bring our community together.
Next week, the excitement continues with our Times Table Rock Stars assembly. Children in Years 3–6 will compete against their teachers in times table challenges, and they can come to school dressed as rock stars for the day! It is a fun way to celebrate the practice children put into learning their tables and to raise the profile of Times Table Rock Stars. I am always impressed by how quickly and confidently our children can recall their multiplication facts.
It has been a busy week beyond the assemblies, too. Thank you to all the parents who attended Parent Teacher Meetings for Years 1–6 this week. These will continue into next week with further meetings on Wednesday 30th September. These conversations are such a valuable part of working together to support each child. Our Reception children enjoyed a visit from Curtain Up, who performed an interactive play about light and dark as well as running a shadow puppet workshop, while Year 6 visited the SEA LIFE Centre to bring their Ocean Odyssey topic to life.
What a lovely week it has been, full of teamwork, laughter and new experiences. Whether cheering for their House, watching a performance or exploring life beneath the ocean, the children have brought such enthusiasm to it all. Thank you for your continued support. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to seeing our rock stars next week!
